Arab-Turkish meeting calls for backing efforts for recognition of Palestinian state

KUWAIT, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- The conference on Arab-Turkish parliamentary ties' called here Tuesday for the backing of international efforts aimed at the recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital. The conference which was held under the auspices of Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi has come to a close.
The conference also touched on the Gaza Strip situation, calling for measures to lift the unjust blockade on the Palestinian people there.
The final communique of the event also supported the Turkish demands for compensations on the Freedom Flotilla incident which lead to the death of several activists.
The meeting also touched on the Iranian nuclear file, welcoming the Turkish attempts to mediate on the issue.
The meeting shed light on the terrorist attack against a Church in Alexandria, Egypt, saying that such act was against all notions of humanity.
