CAIRO, Jan 9 (KUNA) -- The Arab League condemned Sunday the continuing
Israeli racist violations and policies against the Palestinians in Jerusalem.
Israel continues to demolish and erase sites of cultural and spiritual
significance to Palestinians, said a statement by the Arab League, adding that
this arouses big question marks over Israel's abiding by the UN charter, the
resolutions of international legitimacy and the international law.
"Israel is bent on imposing its laws on Palestinian property without any
respect to international norms which call for the protection of such sites,"
stated the Arab League'statement which called on UNESCO and other
organizations to take serious measures to prevent such violations.
The UNSC and the International Quartet are responsible for preventing the
occurrence of such crimes, said the statement.
On another level, the Arab League welcomed Chile's recognition of the
Palestinian state with Secretary General of the League Amr Moussa lauding the
step as a positive one towards achieving the Palestinian dream of forming a
state within the 1967 borders. (end)
