Kuwait, Egypt start first joint war games

KUWAIT, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Air Force (KAF) and the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) have started Al-Yarmuk 1-2010 drills, their first ever joint war games, at Ahmad Al-Jaber Airbase here on Sunday.
A joint squadron, involving KAF F/A-18 Hornets and EAF F-16 Fighting Falcons, made combat sorties and formations, commander of the airbase Staff Group Captain Abdullah Al-Faudari told reporters this evening.
"The war games are part of the close military cooperation with sisterly Egypt aiming to enhance the preparedness of the two countries' air forces and armed forces in general," Al-Faudari pointed out.
"The drills involve night combat sorties by multi-aircraft formations against hoax targets with a view to sharing experience by the two sides," he added.
Staff Group Captain Al-Faudari expressed KAF's gratitude to Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for his support to the drills. The State of Kuwait takes part in Egypt's regular annual war games dubbed the Bright Star, side by side with several other Arab and foreign countries, but the ongoing drills are considered to be the first bilateral war games, (end) nnd.abd.gb KUNA 060050 Dec 10NNNN
