CAIRO, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met
here Saturday with Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa and discussed
efforts to remove obstacles facing resumption of direct peace talks with
Israel.
A diplomat close to the meeting, requesting anonymity, told reporters Abbas
met with Moussa at the latter's Cairo residence and discussed the Jewish
settlements on occupied Palestinian territories.
He said they have also discussed Arab League's endeavors to remove
obstacles facing resumption of direct talks between the Palestinians and
Israelis. The source said the Arab League would take a few steps, which he did
not name, if Israel declined to freeze the settlement activities.
Moussa briefed Moussa about his recent meeting with deputy US Special Envoy
to the Middle East David Hill.
The Palestinian leader is scheduled to meet Egyptian President Hosni
Mubarak tomorrow. (end)
