Yemen refutes claims on suspicious packages on West-bound flights

SANAA, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- A senior Yemeni official refuted the claims that a suspicious package were found on a United Parcel Service (UPS) cargo flight originating from Yemen which sparked security alerts at British and US airports.
Speaking to KUNA under t anonymity, the official said he was shocked at the reports since the UPS had no flights from Yemen.
"The Yemeni airports have very strict security measures and are equipped with the world's latest devices to ensure the highest degree of safety for airliners," he affirmed.
Earlier today a toner cartridge with wires attached to it was found on cargo flight at East Midlands Airport in northwest Leicestershire, north London, sparking security alerts at other British and US airports. (end) az.gb KUNA 292321 Oct 10NNNN
