ISTANBUL, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- At least nine Turkish people including six
police officers were injured on Friday when a landmine went off near Durankaya
town in the southeastern province of Hakkari.
The blast took place in Yuksekova district following a funeral for two
people who were killed Thursday in a separate bomb attack in the same
province, Turkey's Anatolia News Agency reported.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital as law-enforcement services
started a probe into the attack.
Hakkari is located in the restive mainly-Kurdish area bordering Iran where
the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has been waging a secessionist war against
the Turkish state since 1984. (end)
