High-ranking Iraqi military officer assassinated

BAGHDAD, Sept 6 (KUNA) -- Masked gunmen assassinated here a high-ranking Iraqi military officer, while a senior official at the Ministry of Agriculture survived an attempt on his life, said a security source on Monday.
The source told KUNA that masked gunmen opened their fire on army brigadier while he was in his car at Al-Amiryah area, noting that the incident resulted in the immediate death of the army official. The police is investigating the incident, said the source.
On a separate account, an official at the Ministry of Agriculture survived an assassination today when his car blew up in Qadsiya area, said the source, adding that the official suffered some injures which required treatment at the hospital. (end) ahh.gta KUNA 061111 Sep 10NNNN
