Five Algerian officers injured

ALGIERS, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Five officers in the Algerian Army were injured when a mine exploded in Madea province, west of Algiers, a military source said Wednesday.
The source told KUNA that the legs of one of the officers were amputated due to the explosion of the newly-planted mine.
He said it was expected that the mine was planted by terrorist groups, noting that the explosion occurred as the officers were on a regular search operation in a forest in Qallaba area in Boghar commune.
Meanwhile, the source said that the security situation in Madea was improving, noting that the province suffered from terrorism in the 1990s. (end) ft.ris KUNA 111445 Aug 10NNNN
