ALGIERS, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Five officers in the Algerian Army were injured
when a mine exploded in Madea province, west of Algiers, a military source
said Wednesday.
The source told KUNA that the legs of one of the officers were amputated
due to the explosion of the newly-planted mine.
He said it was expected that the mine was planted by terrorist groups,
noting that the explosion occurred as the officers were on a regular search
operation in a forest in Qallaba area in Boghar commune.
Meanwhile, the source said that the security situation in Madea was
improving, noting that the province suffered from terrorism in the 1990s. (end)
