ISLAMABAD, July 24 (KUNA) -- The son of a Pakistani provincial minister was
gunned down and his friend was seriously wounded in a firing by unknown
assailants Saturday evening in northern Pakistan.
The son of Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the Information Minister of
Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa province, was walking outside his house in Naushehra
district along with his friend when unknown assailants opened fire at them,
said Hashim Baber, secretary Awami National Party (ANP), while talking to
newsmen.
He said Rashid Hussain, the ministers son, died on the spot and his
critically wounded friend has been taken to hospital.
Rashid Hussain, 25, was the only son of Mian Iftikhar Hussain and had been
receiving life threats from Taliban militants. Although, no group has yet
claimed responsibility for the attack but police suspected assailants were
linked to Taliban militants. (end).
