Life returning to normal in Oman after tropical cyclone

MUSCAT, June 6 (KUNA) -- Life is going back to normal in Oman after Tropical Cyclone Phet, as the country works hard to repair damage to the state's infrastructure like electricity, roads, and communications networks.
The National Civil Defense Committee announced last night that the death toll reached 16 dead and missing.
Meanwhile governmental and private sector employees headed to work Sunday morning after a one-day break during the cyclone's passing through the country.
Despite the difficult weather and climate conditions, the Sultanate of Oman suffered minimum damage, due to high levels of awareness and scientific technology, which led to hour by hour weather reports on the cyclone.
In 2007, Oman was hit by Cyclone Gonu which tore through the country killing at least 49 people and causing damage estimated at USD 3.9 billion.
