DAMASCUS, April 29 (KUNA) -- Syria and Iran stressed on the importance of
the establishment of a regional economic bloc to achieve prosperity and
contribute in stressing peace and stability.
A Syrian presidential release said that came during the meeting of Syrian
President Bashar Al-Assad and Iran's First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi
which was attended by Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Utri.
The release said that the officials discussed during the meeting the
development of Syrian-Iranian relations on all levels, especially in the
political and economic fields, the agenda of the 12th meetings of the higher
joint Iranian-Syrian committee, and increasing cooperation and trade exchange
between them.
Al-Assad and Rahimi discussed the latest regional and international
developments including the situations in Palestine and Iraq, it added.
Rahimi expressed Iran's gratitude to Syria for supporting its right in
owning nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Rahimi, who arrived here Thursday, will be heading his country's delegation
at the meetings of the higher joint Iranian-Syrian committee. (end)
