BAGHDAD, March 7 (KUNA) -- A member of Mosul province's council was killed
and 20 others were injured Sunday in violent attacks during the elections
process in Mosul, northern Iraq.
A source in the Iraqi police told KUNA that security personnel of the joint
forces stationed near Al-Hamadaniya opened fire at a convoy of Qusai
Al-Shabki, a member of Ninawa Governorate council which led to his injury and
eight others.
A medical source at Al-Hamadaniya hospital said that Al-Shabki died as soon
as he reached the hospital. He was injured in the chest while casting his vote
in the elections.
Another source at the Ninava Operation Command announced the closure of
three polling centers due to the explosions witnessed earlier on Sunday.
The closure was a result of the injury of six local supervisors. The three
polling stations were Salabi, Al-Andalus and Al-Tala'e in Mosul, a source
added.
Furthermore, another source stated that 10 Iraqis were injured in an
explosion that took place near a polling station in Bab Jaded "New Gate" west
Mosul.
Major General Sarhad Qader told KUNA that three explosive devices explosed
near Al-Riyadh, Qadhai Al-Hwaija, and Daqouq south-west Kirkuk, resulting in
