ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- Firing by unknown militants Saturday at a
religious procession in a northern district killed one person and seriously
wounded 10 others, said police.
The incident took place in Dera Ismail Khan district of North-West Frontier
Province (NWFP).
According to police sources, a large number of people were taking part in
the procession, held to mark the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal (Eid
Millad-ul-Nabi).
Unknown masked gunmen opened firing at the process, said sources, adding
that one person was killed and over 10 were critically wounded.
Despite security being on high alert across the country on the occasion,
this is the second violent incident in the province since morning. Earlier, a
suicide explosion in Kirk town killed four and wounded 23. (end)
