RIYADH, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Twenty bodies of Saudi soldiers were found near
the borders with Yemen in southern Saudi Arabia, out of 26 still missing in
hostilities with outlawed Houthis, a senior Saudi official said Saturday.
Prince Khaled bin Sultan, Assistant Minister of Defense for Military
Affairs, announced the discovery of the 20 bodies who were killed during
confrontations with the Houthi rebels who clashed with the Saudi forces after
crossing the borders.
Prince Khaled, cited by state-run news agency (SPA) during a visit to the
forces on frontlines in the south, said the armed forces have fought with
elements who were highly-trained and have modern weapons, only armies could
possess, which he considered as evidence that they were trained in other
countries which supplied them with arms.
Prince Khaled said the government planned to establish a military base in
the Jeizan area, southern Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi official said they have information proving cooperation between
the Houthi infiltrators and Al-Qaeda. Both of them, he added, were contacting
and coordinating with each others to carry out sabotage acts. (end)
