KABUL, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Three international soldiers, five Afghan policemen
and six civilians have been killed in separate incidents of violence in
Afghanistan, officials said on Wednesday.
Two soldiers of the British troops were killed in a roadside bomb blast in
southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, the NATO-led ISAF press said on Wednesday.
Another soldiers from Estonia killed in a separate roadside bomb attack in
the same southern zone. Exact location of the blasts were not revealed but
more than 9,000 British troops are stationed in Helmand province.
In the western province of Herat, five policemen were killed when their
vehicle hit a roadside landmine on Tuesday night.
Officials said the attack was carried out in the remote Rabat Sangin
district late last night. Chief of the district Ghulam Farouq confirmed the
blast and casualties but there is no claim of responsibility from any group or
individual so far.
Six more people, all of them civilians, were killed in the country's
eastern province of Nangarhar as armed men opened fire at their vehicle on
Tuesday night.
Officials in Jalalabad, capital of the province, said the incident happened in
Pacheeragam district last night.
Police headquarters confirmed the incident and said the attack was the
result of some personal enmity.
In the country's central province of Maidan Wardak, the Afghan and
international troops arrested two Taliban commanders during a raid.
"These commanders are involved with IED (improvised explosive device)
activity and responsible for several attacks in the area," said a statement
from ISAF headquarters here. (end)
