France''s economy minister to visit Syria Wednesday

DAMASCUS, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- French Minister of Economy, Industry, and Employment Christine Lagarde will arrive here Wednesday evening on an official visit during which she will meet Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, businessmen, and representatives of companies.
Sources from the minister's office told Al-Watan Syrian paper that Lagarde will also meet Syria's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah Al-Dardari to discuss economic relations between the two countries.
In addition, the French minister will meet Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri before holding a meeting with Al-Dardari, and Syrian Transport Minister Yarob Bader, Economy and Trade Minister Amir Lutfi, Industry Minister Fuad Juni, head of the state planning authority Tayseer Al-Radawi, head of the investment authority Ahmad Abdulaziz, and a number of Syrian and French businessmen, the paper said.
Syrian Ministers and Lagarde will sign agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on joint projects related to issues like the taxes authority and establishing a metro in Damascus, it added.
After signing the agreements and MoUs, Lagarde will hold a press conference on the outcomes of the visit, and then will visit the factory of a French cheese company. (end) ak.ris KUNA 160923 Dec 09NNNN
