Scientific centre marks launching of the Aquarium upgrade

KUWAIT, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Scientific centre has marked Monday launching of the upgrading project of the Aquarium Centre through adding new interactive monitors under the sponsorship of Aquarium's director Mujbal Al-Mutawah, it was announced by Al-Mutawah on Monday.
Al-Mutawah said in a press statement that launching this upgrade project aims at keeping up with modern developments, bringing state-of-the-art technology and providing scientific culture for both of children and youth.
He went on to say that it does Kuwait credit that its Aquarium in the first to use interactive screens in the world of such kind , pointing out that carrying out and operating the project will 9 consecutive months in cooperation with specialized team from the centre.
Meanwhile, director of the Centre's information technology department Adel Al-Anezi said that the main aim of this project is to educate within an enjoyable recreational framework and through the use of modern technology and new means and tools in order to open up new scientific horizons for the new generations.
Al-Anezi went on to say that this project will include 42 monitors working through touch-typing and connected to a central apparatus containing a huge database. He said that these screens will display the different environments found in the Aquarium and provide photos of hi-tech and resolution with some special effects according to the information management system.
He said the Aquarium's entrance contains three monitors using google search engine to enable the visitors from reaching some landmarks in Kuwait from this scientific centre. He added that these landmarks include Philka island , Sabah Al-Ahmad reserve, pointing out that this is carried out according to the visitor's location to the Aquarium's three environments, namely, desert , coastal and marine.
Al-Anezi added that the visitor can also see the ancient Kuwaiti cultures of these three environments through a display of the tools used in each environment, besides getting acquainted with the displayed animals and fish through monitor providing data on them.
He concluded with saying that the projector technology will be used in these monitors to direct educational environmental messages, besides using some of the monitors to explain the marine terrains and how they were formed. (end) zak.isa.af KUNA 141551 Dec 09NNNN
