Clashes kill, injure two Turkish soldiers

ISTANBUL, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- A Turkish soldier was killed and another was injured on Saturday in fierce clashes with a group of armed members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey.
The PKK members attacked the soldiers as they were fanning out the country's southeastern Nusaybin area near Mardin'in province, the Turkish army announced in a statement.
Military reinforcements were dispatched to hunt down the PKK rebels, the army added.
The attack came after staging demonstrations in support of the PKK this week in Turkey, demanding to improve the conditions under which PKK leader Abdullah Oglan was being held.
Ankara has announced that it will to promote the rights of the Kurdish people, in aspiration that they would stop supporting the PKK which has been fighting the Turkish government and forces since 1984. (end) ta.mar KUNA 051349 Dec 09NNNN
