KABUL, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- An ISAF soldier and 130 Taliban were killed in
fighting in Afghanistan, the international troops announced on Monday.
The ISAF soldier died in a roadside bomb blast in southern Afghanistan,
said a statement from headquarters of the multinational force in Kabul.
Name and nationality of the soldier and exact location of the incident were
not made public for policy reasons.
In the same statement, the ISAF said they had killed 130 militants in a
joint operation by the Afghan and international troops in Chahar Dara district
of the country's northern Kunduz province.
The anti-Taliban swoop was launched on November 1 and continued till
November 6, said the military. It said at least eight among the 130 slain
militants were Taliban commanders.
The statement said more than 750 Afghan and international troops took part
in the week-long operation to stop insurgent activity and weapons trafficking
in Chahar Dara district.
"The troops also disrupted the insurgent shadow governor in Kunduz province,
" it added. Earlier, governor of Kunduz informed journalists about the same
operation and the casualties inflicted on the militants. (end)
