Saudi Arabia sets up 10-km-wide no man''s zone along border with Yemen

RIYADH, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Saudi regular forces have mopped up border regions clearing pockets of infiltrators and restoring conditions in these areas to normalcy, a senior official announced on Sunday.
Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, the assistant minister of defense for military affairs, said in a statement after he toured border military positions located close to the border with Yemen, that the personnel were abiding by instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, to refrain from assaulting individuals without provocation.
The kingdom has a single red line, which is safeguarding the national sovereignty, he said, vowing to "cut off the hand" that might seek to infringe on the national territories.
All regions along the border have been evacuated of civilians, he declared, indicating that a 10-km-wide security belt has been established along the border. He affirmed that suspicious elements who might venture into the security belt would be targeted by the Saudi forces. (pickup previous) ud.rk KUNA 081829 Nov 09NNNN
