SANAA, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- A visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr
Mottaki to Yemen due on Monday was adjourned to next week, it was officially
announced here on Sunday.
The official news agency, Saba', said the scheduled visit was delayed due
to preoccupation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh with various engagements and
issues.
Iranian Foreign Ministry had declared that the minister would fly to Yemen
on Monday carrying a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Saleh.
Iran made no mention of the major topics to be discussed during the
anticipated visit. However, observers in the Gulf region believe that such a
mission would certainly focus on the violent events in northern Yemen.
Yemeni officials have accused Iran of supporting Huthi rebels, locked up in
fierce fighting with government forces in the northern regions. (end)
