Iraqi security authorities impose security plan to ensure violence-free Eid al-Fitr

BAGHDAD, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi security authorities have put a security plan to guard against any security breaches that could hit the Iraqi capital Baghdad during Eid al-Fitr holidays.
Operations Command said in a statement it carried out a security plan in collaboration with the Ministries of Defense and the Interior aimed at creating an appropriate atmosphere for the purpose of celebrating Eid.
The plan includes deployment of security forces in public places and parks to ensure protection for mosques, Shiite mosques and religious shrines and markets.
The statement noted that the security forces of the Iraqi army, federal police, local police, rescue teams, traffic police, civil defense, Directorate of anti-explosives and all intelligence services will be stationed at those sites throughout the day of the Feast for the protection of citizens. The month of Ramadan had seen a relatively stable security with no major security breaches recorded due to the security alert imposed by the security authorities. (end) aha.tg KUNA 201448 Sep 09NNNN
