Seven killed in blast, firing in Afghanistan

KABUL, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Seven Afghan civilians, including two children, were killed in separate incidents in northern and western Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, officials said.
In the first incident, two children were killed and three other people wounded in a premature suicide bomb attack in Herat province of the country.
Police office Ikramuddin Yawar said the blast took place close to a market area on Saturday morning. He said there were no security personnel. The bomber body was blown to pieces and it was chared beyond recognition, said the officer.
Separately, five civilians were killed in firing incident in the northern province of Jawzjan on Friday night.
A statement from the Interior Ministry on Saturday said the attackers were yet to be identified. It said the armed men opened fire at a crowd of people killing five of them.
It is not known if the attack was carried out by militants or the result of some tribal or family feud. No group has so far claimed responsibility. All those killed in the attack were common citizen.
Six Italian soldiers and 10 Afghan civilians were killed in a car bomb attack at ISAF convoy in Kabul on Thursday. Just a day after the blast, reports suggested that the Italian government had decided to withdraw 500 troops from Afghanistan.(end) gk.tg KUNA 191559 Sep 09NNNN
