ISTANBUL, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- A civilian was killed in a landmine explosion
southeast of Turkey, said a security force on Saturday.
According to the Turkish military's website, the civilian was killed in a
town near Diyarbakir city which has a Kurdish majority.
The statement said that the landmine might be planted by the Kurdistan
Workers Party (PKK).
The Turkish government and the PKK had been at each other ever since the
PPK began in 1984 its armed operations aimed at establishing a Kurdish state
in southeast Turkey. The struggle resulted in the death of 44,000 individuals.
