LONDON, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- There were an estimated 5,000 new cases of swine flu in England in the last week, Government figures showed Thursday.
The data showed a continued drop in the number of people newly diagnosed with the virus, in the previous week there were an estimated 11,000 new cases.
The number of people who are known to have died after contracting the virus now stands at 57 in England, a slight rise on the 54 reported last week.

This is also a fall on last week's figures when there were 263 in hospital of whom 30 were in intensive care, health officials said.
The British Government has announced a vaccination programme for swine flu which will begin this autumn.
