ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- At least five people were killed and four
others were wounded in a bomb explosion and a firing incident in the
southwestern city of Quetta, said police on Thursday.
Unknown armed motorcyclists sprayed bullets at a gathering on Jinnah Road
in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, early Thursday, police sources
told KUNA.
They said four people died on the spot and two others were seriously
wounded.
In a related incident, said sources, unknown militants hurled a
hand-grenade at a tailoring shop in Satellite town area of the city Thursday
morning.
The explosion critically wounded three people, said sources, adding that
one of them died of wounds in the hospital.
Violence has claimed more than a dozen innocent lives in Quetta since
Wednesday as the province observed shutter down strike to mark the third death
anniversary of nationalist leader Akbar Bugti, killed in a military operation
in 2006. (end)
