NEW DELHI, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- The first two deaths due to the swine flu were
reported on Thursday in New Delhi, even as the total death toll in India
reached 36 as of today, said a press release issued by the countrys Health
Ministry.
One of the two dead in the Capital city was a 31-year old boy, while the
other was a 38-year-old woman.
A total of 159 swine flu cases were reported from across India on Thursday,
taking the aggregate figure to 2242 so far.
The maximum of 66 cases were reported from the countrys south-western city
of Pune, 18 from financial capital Mumbai, and 11 from national capital New
Delhi.
According to the press release, health screening of passengers coming from
affected countries is continuing in 22 international airports. By Wednesday, a
total of 37,443 passengers had been screened. 225 doctors and 172 paramedics
are manning 83 counters at these airports, it added.
Out of the total 36 deaths so far, the city of Pune has reported 15,
Bangalore nine and Mumbai three, while the rest have reported from other
