Yemen anounces first swine flu death

SANAA, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- Yemen's Ministry of Public Health and Population announced here on Tuesday the first death as a result of swine flu infection; a citizen aged 40 in Ad-Dali province, southern Yemen.
The ministry's statement added that the man had never left Yemen in his entire life, without elaborating any further.
Two cases of the disease found yesterday were also revealed by the ministry, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 17; 13 of them foreigners and four nationals.
The two cases are of a young girl and a woman, both Yemeni nationals who also never left the country and had not come in contact with any previous cases, a ministry official said.
The official added that the two cases mentioned they had attended a wedding ceremony including guests from neighbouring Arab Gulf countries.
The ministry earlier said that two cases have recovered from the virus and are safely back to their everyday lives. (end) az.sd KUNA 190110 Aug 09NNNN
