KUWAIT, July 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's oil refineries are well-protected by 700 cameras of various types and 32 kilometers of electric wires, the country's Oil Sector Services Company (OSSC) chairman said here Sunday.
The installation of such cameras and electric wires is mainly aimed to protect Kuwait's three oil refineries from possible aggression or infiltration, Ali al-Ebeid told KUNA.
The cameras were fixed by the cabinet's committee on following up security resolutions, while the OSSC, which was founded in 2005, is responsible for security-bearing operational processes and provides permanent guarding to refineries and oil facilities, he said.
A tender is to be made public soon for building five refinery gates using sophisticated world systems with a view to reinforcing security measures at oil refineries, he unfolded.
The same security measures are now being applied at oilfields affiliated to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), he said.
Some 18 kilometers of electric wirers have been installed at oilfields over the last three months, he added.
The Oil Sector Services Company is now working with other oil companies to set out an integrated and uniform security system for all refineries and oilfields, al-Ebeid said.
He pointed to a high-level security committee for the oil sector, involving several oil companies.
The aforementioned planned integrated security system will have to be approved by this committee, he noted.
He added that his company was on the point of introducing fresh anti-fire mechanisms laid down by an international security expert. (end) ahj.na.mt KUNA 051553 Jul 09NNNN
