Blast kills eight Afghan drivers

KABUL, June 13 (KUNA) -- Eight locals were killed when a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of vehicles carrying fuel to a NATO base in southern Afghanistan, officials said on Saturday.
An Afghan police officer said the attack was carried out in Grishk district of Helmand province late Friday night.
The bomber detonated his explosive-packed car amidst the fuel tankers in a parking lot of the NATO forces, destroying several tankers and killing eight people.
Abdul Ahmad, governor of the district, said all those killed were Afghan drivers and none of them was a foreign soldier or official.
NATO officials have yet to confirm the attack or the casualty figure. (end) gk.ema KUNA 131034 Jun 09NNNN
