KABUL, June 7 (KUNA) -- A group of Taliban stormed a police post in Faryab
province of Afghanistan killing four policemen early Sunday, officials said.
Faryab province is located in the comparatively peaceful northern zone of
the country.
Khalilullah Ziayee, police chief of the province, said the police post was
located in a remote area. He said Taliban came on motorbikes and opened fire
at the post killing four policemen.
There was exchange of fire and there might be some casualties among the
attackers, he added.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said a roadside bomb killed two civilians
in the country's southern province of Kandahar. The slain included a mother
and her son, police officials in the province said.
In yet another incident, a military vehicle was destroyed in a roadside
bomb blast in Logar province, located around 80 kilometres from the country's
central capital Kabul.
Officials in Kabul confirmed the attack but said there were no
casualties. Taliban spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid, on the other
hand, said all the soldiers aboard the vehicle had been killed. (end)
