   5/24/2009 9:46:00 PM

KUWAIT, May 24 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah thanked the Kuwaiti people Sunday for their positive reaction to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's call to select their representatives.
Sheikh Mohammad, in a ceremony held by Kuwait University (KU) to honor eight teaching staff members who won in May 16 parliamentary elections, said the eight MPs would have a great responsibility to drawing the future of Kuwait.
The development is the responsibility of the lawmakers who had already done great tasks in teaching the young generation, he said.
The new parliament, with the eight university professors, means that the National Assembly would consist of efficient personalities believing in the strength of faith and science, said Sheikh Mohammad.
Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Nouriya Al-Sabeeh congratulated the Kuwaitis for the selection of eight university professors.
The professors, she added, were among the elite and would be capable of serving the nation.
Female MP Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak said the lawmakers should pay attention to the development of education.
The ceremony was held to honor Dr. Yusuf Zalzala, Dr. Waleed Al-Tabtabae, Dr. Faisal Al-Mislem, Dr. Hassan Johar, Dr. Jamaan Al-Herbish, Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak, Dr. Aseel Al-Awadhi and Dr. Salwa Al-Jassar. (end) asm.bs KUNA 242146 May 09NNNN
