TEHRAN, April 23 (KUNA) -- EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has described Tehran's readiness to resume dialogue with Western states over its nuclear file as "constructive." According to a statement issued by the Iranian Supreme National Security Council on Thursday, Solana called the council's Secretary Saeed Jalili just hours after Tehran expressed its readiness to resume dialogue with the West.
It quoted Solana as having said that Iran's decision was "constructive" and created a new opportunity for pushing negotiations forward.
Jalili, on his part, said that his country's move created the required platform for a resumption of negotiations between the two sides in "a just atmosphere and based on mutual respect." Yesterday, Jalili said Tehran was "ready for constructive dialogue" over its nuclear program, in response to the invitation by Solana. (end) mw.ema KUNA 231100 Apr 09NNNN
