BAGHDAD, April 18 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Interior Minister Jawad Boulani said here
Saturday that the Kurdish language would be featured along with Arabic and
English in the new Iraqi passport.
Boulani told the press that the Iraqi government had received new equipment
that would enable the printing of 10,000 passports each day, saying that the
new step of including Kurdish was to create a sense of unity among the Iraqi
people.
The Minister also revealed that new passports would be distributed by 50
centers in and outside of Iraq, affirming that the document would be very
difficult to counterfeit.
The Iraqi government and a German company had signed a deal worth USD nine
million in August 2008 to purchase several machines which would print the new
passports. (end)
