ALGIERS, March 27 (KUNA) -- Seven suspected militants were killed on Friday
in a military operation in south Algiers, an Algerian Army source said.
The seven killed militants allegedly belong to the al-Qaeda Organization in
the Islamic Maghreb, the source said, adding that army forces were still
surrounding other militants.
The armed group had infiltrated into the capital from Bumrdas where
al-Qaeda leaders are stationed with a view to launching terrorist operations
in the vicinity of the capital, it said.
Some 14 gunmen have been killed and a considerable quantity of weapons and
ammunition seized in the Algerian military manhunt this week.
Meanwhile, an army officer was killed in a bomb explosion in a military
manhunt in eastern Algeria to arrest al-Qaeda militants stationed in mountain.
