KUWAIT, March 4 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti official praised Wednesday the Iraqi
initiative to return 4,500 video tapes and cassettes that were stolen from the
Kuwaiti Information Ministry's archives during the Iraqi invasion.
Foreign Undersecretary Khalid Al-Jarallah said, in a reception held in the
Bulgarian Embassy to celebrate the country's 131st liberation anniversary,
that Kuwait and Iraq were discussing the return of more material belonging to
the Kuwaiti Information Ministry's archives.
"Our brothers in Iraq have affirmed that as soon as they discover any
Kuwaiti property, they will contact us to return it," he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Jarallah said that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Sabah will continue his Arab tour to deliver to
leaders letters from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad A-Jaber
Al-Sabah.
The undersecretary also expressed his happiness for participating in the
Bulgarian celebration and emphasized that Kuwait and Bulgaria had special
historic relations that were constantly developing through coordination,
understanding, and communication.
He pointed out that Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) was
active in Bulgaria and praised the Bulgarian support to Kuwait during the
Iraqi occupation.
On his part, Bulgarian Ambassador to Kuwait Ilko Shivachev thanked the
Kuwaiti leadership, government, and the National Assembly for their kind
sentiments towards his country.
He said Kuwait and Bulgaria were keen on strengthening their ties in all
fields, especially economy, noting that Bulgaria was the "bridge" that
connected Kuwait with the European Union (EU).
Bulgaria encouraged investors, especially the Kuwaitis, to do business in
the European country, he added. (end)
