RIYADH, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- Saudi oil exporter Aramco signed contracts with
South Korean Hyundai Engineering and Construction, and British Petrofac Ltd.
for the development of on-shore Karan gas field.
Karan field is the first producing non-associated gas to be developed by
Aramco in the submerged zone in a drive to honor growing domestic demand, said
a statement by the Saudi company.
The contracts, whose value were not mentioned, aim at producing 1.8 billion
cubic feet of gas per day by mid-2011, it said.
Hyundai will be responsible for Karan's facilities. The company will build
a unit to proecess and deliver gas, and back-up utilities for gas processing
units.
Petrofac will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction
of utilities and cogeneration at Karan, with the contract including laying a
47-kilometer-long pipeline and building a power plant. (end)
