Iraqi officer assassinated, 11 armed men arrested S. Iraq

BAGHDAD, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi police said on Saturday that unidentified gunmen shot dead an officer in the Iraqi police in Al-Qadsiya governorate southern Iraq, at the time 11 armed men in the neighboring province of Dhi Qar were arrested.
An Iraqi police source told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that unidentified gunmen today shot and killed an Iraqi police officer in front of his house in the area of Diwaniya, the largest city in Al-Qadsiya south of Baghdad and then ran away after that.
In a separate incident, police in the province of Dhi Qar said in a statement that the security authorities managed to arrest 11 wanted men in separate operations in the governorate.
The statement added that among those arrested were people involved in murder crimes, fraud and possession of weapons. (end) aha.tg KUNA 211506 Feb 09NNNN
