Kuwait Speaker hails HH Amir; says no dissolution of parliament

KUWAIT, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait National Assembly (parliament) Speaker Jassim Al-Kharafi on Tuesday extolled His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's wisdom and keenness on democracy and stability in the country.
He made it certain that there would be neither constitutional nor unconstitutional dissolution of the National Assembly.
The speaker was speaking to reporters after Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah said HH the Amir was not going to decide upon the government's resignation for the time being.
Al-Kharafi said: "I have said earlier today that no measure or decision has been made by HH the Amir on the National Assembly. But, I can now confirm that, thank God, there will be neither constitutional nor constitutional dissolution." "This shows HH the Amir's wisdom and keenness on democracy and stability in the country," he said.
He voiced hope that members of parliament could appreciate such a noble gesture by HH the Amir, urging everybody in Kuwait to be keen on Kuwait's security and stability.
He also termed HH the Amir's step as a good opportunity for the assembly to tackle its issues through its members who had recently proved their keenness, cooperation and unity.
He thanked HH the Amir for such a step, vowing that he and other deputies would meet his expectations.
Earlier in the day, the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs said His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah had tendered his government's resignation to HH the Amir.
But, HH the Amir is not going to decide whether or not to accept the resignation for the time being, the minister said, noting that the government would continue dispensing its functions until further notice for the good of the nation and citizens. (end) ms.na.mt KUNA 251708 Nov 08NNNN
