ISTANBUL, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Three members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party
(PKK) in the southeastern region of Turkey handed themselves in to Turkish
authorities, the Turkish Army announced Friday.
In an official statement, the army said the three PKK members were
transferred to a police station for interrogation, adding that they said they
handed themselves in because of the pressure they were under given the
inhumane practices of the PKK.
The announcement came hours after the army said its forces targeted a group
of PKK militants in southeast Turkey.
Last February, the Turkish Army conducted an eight-day military operation
on PKK militants in northern Iraq.
Istanbul accuses Kurdish rebels of the killing of 40,000 people since 1984
when they began attacks. The rebels are demanding independence. (end)
