Gazans urge UN to help lift Israeli siege

GAZA, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Leading Palestinian activists handed over on Thursday a petition signed by one million Gazans to the international agency, UNRWA, urging for lifting the siege on Gaza Strip.
The written appeal was handed over to officials of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the strip.
Dr. Iyad Seraj, in charge of the Palestinian campaign for lifting the blockade, said at a news conference held outside the UNRWA building that the message was addressed to the UN general secretariat.
The document was signed by women, children and elderly.
The Israeli siege has caused enormous hardships to the Gazans, particularly the sick. (end) zt.rk KUNA 301713 Oct 08NNNN
