Turkish army raids 31 PKK potential sites

ISTANBUL, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Turkish army said on Saturday that its war planes raided today 31 potential sites for the PKK in northern Iraq.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement posted on its website that the Turkish fighters bombed since the fourth of this month for the sixth time target 31 potential sites of PKK rebels.
The Turkish attacks, involving artillery forces, came after the killing of 17 Turkish soldiers in an attack carried out by the PKK rebels last week and after Turkish parliament voted to extend military operations across the Iraqi border for another year.
The Turkish army has recently carried out almost daily raids across the border with Iraq in response to a series of attacks by the PKK.
More than 20 people were killed last week in attacks that were carried out from bases rebels across the border.
The same period also witnessed killing of more than 17 Turkish soldiers in an ambush by PKK and the killing of five persons in an armed attack on a police bus. (end) ta.tg KUNA 111038 Oct 08NNNN
