ALGIERS, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Spain's authorities have pressed charges of
complicitiy in terrorism to 70 Algerians residing in the European country.
The head of the European Federation for Algerian Societies, Nour-Eddine
Belimdah, said at a seminar in the Algerian capital that the Spanish
authorities acquitted 48 of the Algerians and convicted 18 others. Eight were
kept in detention for suspicion of terrorism complicity.
Belimdah meanwhile urged the Spanish authorities to "open the file of the
illegal Algerian immigrants who have been missing in Spain." He charged that
some of these Algerians "had been buried in Christian cemetries."
But he added that madrid has agreed to dispatch corpses of the dead
immigrants to Algeria once their identity has been authenticized. (end)
