BAGHDAD, Sept 13 (KUNA) -- Some 21 cholera cases were confirmed in Baghdad
on Saturday, while cases in the southern city of Hilla rose up to 40, a
spokesman for the Iraqi Health Ministry said.
"It has been proved at the Baghdad Central Lab that 21 people have been
stricken with cholera in Baghdad," Dr. Ihsan Jafar told Kuwait News Agency
(KUNA).
Some 19 cases were confirmed in Al-Karakh district and the other two cases
were reported from Al-Madain, southeast of Baghdad, and eastern Al-Amin
district, he said.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cholera cases went up to 40 in Hilla,
the spokesman added.
Jafar unveiled that 100 million water sterilization tables were sent to
health care centers in order to curb the outbreak of the killer disease. (end)
