BAGHDAD, July 26 (KUNA) -- Iraqi security authority is ready to provide
protection for foreign companies wishing to invest in Iraq, Iraqi Interior
Undersecretary Adnan Al-Asadi said on Saturday.
Al-Asadi told KUNA that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki pledged to
provide such service for the companies.
"His (Maliki's) pledge was based on actual facts and the review of the
security situation in the country," Al-Asadi said.
The Iraqi official noted that one of the departments in the ministry
specialized in the protection of individuals and facilities.
"There is a surplus in the number of personal bodyguards, which will be
transferred to such a department if there was a need for this," Al-Asadi added.
The official explained that similar forces which used to fight Al-Qaeda,
militias, and organized crime could be recruited for the protection of
facilities or investment companies. (end)
