BAGHDAD, July 11 (KUNA) -- One civilian was killed and two others were
wounded in a joint US-Iraqi military operation in Nasseriya City on Friday,
the media advisor of the Multinational Forces in Iraq said.
"Joined Iraqi and US forces carried out an airdrop at 3:00 am today with a
view to arresting a wanted man believed to finance special groups in Al-Thawra
suburb in central Nasseriya City. They shot dead a man who put up a weapon
against them and injured two others," Abdel-Latif al-Rayan told the Kuwait
News Agency (KUNA).
The report was confirmed by Nasseriya Municipal Council Chairman Ali
Sadkhan, who said US forces cordoned off a street in Al-Thawra suburb from 2:
00 to 4:00 am on Friday.
He added that a sixty-old man was killed while his daughter and son injured
in the operation.
Several computers and mobile phones were seized by US and Iraqi forces, he
