BAGHDAD, July 5 (KUNA) -- Baghdad Operations Command said on Saturday that
Iraqi forces were able to arrest 37 armed militants and defuse 24 bombs were
intended for detonation in various parts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
A statement by the command revealed that the raids and arrests were carried
out in the areas of Kadhimiya, al-Mansour, west of al-Rasheed, Sadr City,
al-Aathmaiah, New Baghdad, Abu Ghraib and Mahmoudia.
The statement added that the operations also resulted in defusing 24 bombs
which were intended to target civilians and security forces, including
adhesive packages. It added that the forces also seized large quantities
of weapons, explosives and ammunition.
It should be noted that most of weapons and explosive devices were seized
in Abu Ghraib area west of Baghdad. (end)
