ISLAMABAD, June 12 (KUNA) -- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
forces bombarded the Pakistani bordering tribal region Wednesday night causing
no human loss, but badly damaging property.
The strikes came despite the strong protest by Islamabad over Tuesday's
bombardment.
Allied Forces helicopters bombarded mountainous Zeyub area in South
Waziristan tribal agency Wednesday night, security and tribal sources told
KUNA Thursday.
Security sources said at least a dozen mortar shells were also fired from
the neighboring Afghan territory.
There was no human loss reported, but the bombardment caused heavy property
damage and also destroyed tress in the mountainous area, they added.
The incident took place hours after Allied Forces helicopters conducted air
strikes in Mohmand tribal agency that killed about 35 people, including 11
soldiers, and wounded 15 others.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the attack saying the
government will take stand on sovereignty, dignity, self respect of Pakistan.
He added that no one will be allowed to carry out such attacks in Pakistan.
The US ambassador was summoned by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday evening
a strong protest was lodged over the incident.(end)
