Car bomb kills six Iraqis in Fallujah, curfew imposed

By Mohammad Al-Ghazzi BAGHDAD, May 23 (KUNA) -- Six Iraqis including an explosive expert were killed and three others including a policeman were injured Friday when a booby-trapped car blew up at the entrance of the security department of Al-Fallujah city, northwest Baghdad.
"The bombing took place at 12:15 p.m. as security men dragged the suspected car to inside the department for inspection," deputy commander of Al-Anbar Police Station Col. Dawood AL-Olwani told KUNA.
"Beside the casualties, the bombing left heavy damage to the building of the security department," he added.
The report was confirmed by the U.S. forces and Captain Mohammad Hussein of Al-Fallujah Police Station.
"The injured persons were rushed to Al-Fallujah Central Hospital," Hussein pointed out.
The attack did not target the U.S. forces, according to a U.S. military statement.
Meanwhile, a U.S. patrol hit a roadside bomb that injured four U.S. troopers in Bustan Albo district, north Fallujah.
U.S. copters rushed the site of the incident and airlifted the injured soldiers to a medical center, the statement said, without revealing how serious the conditions of the victims are.
The two incidents prompted tight security measures including the declaration of curfew across the restive city and closure of its two main entrances. (end) mhg.gb.
