NEW DELHI, May 10 (KUNA) -- At least 29 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and three government soldiers have been killed in fresh
clashes in battle fatigued Northern Sri Lanka.
Six LTTE rebels were killed in Janakapura in North-east Welioya yesterday.
As many as six LTTE rebels were killed in Kiribanwewa in Welioya yesterday,
Sri Lanka's Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said today.
One rebel and a soldier were killed in North Western Mannar yesterday, the
MCNS said.
Two rebels were killed in Vinuththandi in Mannar yesterday, the Sri Lankan
Defence Ministry said in a statement today.
As many as six LTTE cadres and two government soldiers were killed in
Periyamadu in Vavuniya yesterday, the Ministry said.
One LTTE cadre was killed in Munnaramaddikulam in Vavuniya yesterday.
As many as seven LTTE rebels were killed in Chaltipeddikulam area in
Vavuniya yesterday, the MCNS said. (end)
